Our History

The history of Impelle Group dates back to 1941 with the founding of Tenería La Progreseña by the Mahchi family (first generation). In its early years, the company was dedicated to the artisanal production of vegetable sole leather, using imported inputs of Quebracho, Mimosa, Mangle, and Nascacolo, from Brazil and South Africa. The incorporation of Mangle and Nascacolo allowed the company to explore new techniques and improve the quality of its products from the early years. In 1980, under the direction of the second generation of the Mahchi family, the company embarked on a new era of expansion and modernization. New technologies and production processes were implemented, optimizing efficiency and leather quality. Strategic alliances were established with suppliers and customers in various countries, enabling the company to access new markets and consolidate its position as a key player in the leather industry. This period of growth laid the foundation for the global expansion that Impelle Group experiences today.

In 2007, Pieles San Jorge, SRL was founded, led by the third generation of the Mahchi family. This new company specialized in the export of hides to international markets such as Asia and Europe. Subsequently, to meet the needs of the regional market, Curtidos y Derivados Pieles San Andrés, SRL, and Impelle, SRL were created, focused on the export of hides and the commercialization of finished leathers, respectively.

MAS PIEL INTERNACIONAL S.A , founded in 2019 in Nicaragua, consolidates the vision of the Mahchi family, expanding regionally with the commercialization of food-grade and industrial raw materials, finished leather, and Wet Blue. Since 2018, Impelle Group has also ventured into the food-grade raw materials market, offering high-quality products for the food industry. Today, Impelle Group is positioned as a leading supplier to the footwear, apparel, and automotive industries, with a solid commitment to quality, innovation, and customer satisfaction.

In 2022, as part of the Mahchi family group’s growth, Impelle Group was founded in Mexico, establishing its first finishing plant in 2023. Strategically located in a free trade zone, this plant is dedicated to the production of finished leather and Wet Blue, with the goal of meeting the group's needs and growth, as well as serving the Central American and Mexican markets, expanding borders with new potential customers from Europe and Asia, and seeking greater growth in the Mexican market.
